Auto stop/brake components possibly being housed in the bumper? This glossy plastic piece is not on the black/purple car and the components are not in the rearview mirror area like in the 9thgen civics.

Wow, and it doesn't show up on the non-touring version car. Very interesting catch!!. It seems like that's mounted really low to be used for that, but I didn't even see that side having a solid piece. It totally could be used for adaptive cruise, or auto brake application to avoid front collisions?

Most other automakers have those components low in the front bumpers. So that's why I was thinking Honda is following suit.

I think the only automaker that still is placing these components up high is Subaru, but they have 2 cameras up there.

Well one of the benefits for the ones up high like subaru is "repair". Say someone side swiped your front end and destroyed the bumper and the sensors/cameras. They are very expensive to replace. Having them up behind the windshield lowers the likelihood they require replacement. In theory, the subaru ones would be less likely to be damaged.

it's confirmed. The 2016 has a sensor for crash mitigation called "Honda Sensing".
